Hello, my name is Justin. One thing about me is I love movies. I love it more than video games and sports. I am a director. I've directed a few short home made films for a few years. I am also a movie critic or reviewer. I stay open minded when reviewing a movie. I don't review a movie like it's an Oscar contender, like the people in Rotten Tomatoes, IMDb or Metacritic. I love to become a director one day. My favorite studio is Warner Brothers, following Disney, Paramount, Fox, and Universal.

Your Boring Year

Hey, do you remember that time where you got put into an English language underdevelopment class? Or that time out of nowhere you had dog poo on your pants randomly? You were not as smart as you are today. You have improved a lot. You are much more healthier than before. You are no longer fat, you are mentally smarter in every way. i’m surprised that you were actually only good with gangs and druggies. It doesn’t fit your character at all. Yet they took you in. I’m just glad you didn’t do anything they did and didn’t turn into one them.

Nothing really happened in your freshman year. Nothing too big took place in your freshman year. You never went to any events. Dances, sports games, etc. Well you did had reasons of not going.

Your freshman year was nothing important. You just mainly had a lot of laughs for telling jokes. Your true hihg school experience happened in sophomore year.

The Future

We worry more about tomorrow rather than today. We can’t enjoy our lives because we stress about the test next week, the job interview, and the family lectures. So on and so forth. Has there ever come a time where you step aside from the events from tomorrow or next month and actually focused on today?

We fear the future because it is unknown to us. The world and the people around us are not very friendly and selfish. We don’t know what they’ll do to us. They even have the power to from our future. If I apply for a job, the manager will have the full right to hire me or not. We want to hold on to the things that are dear to us. Our friends, family, possessions, etc.

We worry about tomorrow because we want things to work out and plan the way we want it to.

It is best to spend our energy on today. It’s alright to lose the little things in life and trust that what ever tomorrow holds, it will still be as the same as today.

There is absolute control of today. Do what you want to do today. Want to see a movie. Take a 3 hour nap. Chat with friends. It’s not hard picking up the phone and make the decision. Living today is what sets up tomorrow.

What does Obesity do to you?

Can humans notify their mistakes before they create it? Can they take responsibility for their actions? Obesity comes to mind; it’s a disease that is shown both on the inside and outside of our body, plaguing you mentally.

From personal experience, Bathroom was an issue for obvious reasons. Digestive system wasn’t working properly. Eating a meal on Sunday would come out Tuesday. Breath smelled like rotten eggs from the fattening food that was consumed. Heart burns occur every other week. If I had not changed my eating and exercising habits diabetes would occur. Obesity on a physical condition causes insecurity. Faces looks like a marshmallow with small noses. Fingers looks like it has frostbites and the body looks inflated. Without taking responsibility for our actions the body will not be fully stable. A solution nowadays are diet pills, or simply walking 30 minutes a day. A faster improvement could be running and having healthy diet. But they intend to sit in their chairs and be entertained.

On a mental condition however, causes depression and loneliness. Obesity causes food addiction which “ causes withdrawal from society, friends and loved ones” causing loneliness, making them “vulnerable to their feelings”(obestiy.ygoy.com). This triggers distorted image of your body and low self-esteem because they cannot be accepted. They sustain their depression from over eating to satisfy with their needs. Obesity can be avoidable and cured. For eating it is best “cutting back on portion size” which will  “help you balance energy in and energy out” and maintain a healthy intestine and stomach (nhlbi.nih.gov).

On a physical condition, it is very simple. Exercise or play a sport. Running is the most common way to lose fat and simply the fastest. Lifting weight does not burn fat only build muscles. Obese individuals do not take responsibility for their actions; therefore, they suffer from food addiction and and loneliness. Obesity can be prevented and restored by a simple diet and constant exercise.

How I Lost 67 Pounds in 2 Months!

I was formerly obese. Now, I am skinny as a stick. I had to plan out my daily schedule around June of 2014 and began in July. My diet and exercising schedule. Starting off with the diet. Its similar to a caveman diet. I cannot eat junk food, processed food, candy, or anything that isn’t real. I have to eat breakfast everyday, Lunch is optional, and did not eat dinner at all. I can only drink water and milk(for breakfast). i had to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables and cut back 95% of the meat I normally consumed.

In addition, I’d also done a water diet. I consume water everyday(at least 15 water bottles) for one week straight without eating anything. And repeat the cycle every other week.

As for the exercising portion. I wake up everyday at 4 am and run. I sprint 10 miles everyday with only 3 brakes, with the exception of traffic lights. Each brakes are 5 seconds long. If i rest for 15 seconds, I cannot stop until I finish sprinting 10 miles, no excuses. For those who are reading this post. If you need to find a place to run, I recommend a park. There’s a park a mile away from my house that is 4 miles long. I ran there. I don’t go to the gym, so has soon has I return I do home work outs. 100 sets of push-ups, side-ups, jumping jacks, squats, etc. After I completed those sets, I walk over to my local swimming pool and swim for 4 miles. I repeat this exercising and eating habit everyday for 2 months straight.

This method may be for everyone, but it does work. I didn’t believe in myself that I could do this. I never received any support from family and friends. And receiving “you lost a ton of weight” quotes were very satisfying.

The Big Mistake

Jason is his name. He was called at his school office by the police. Jason was asked a couple questions to wonder why he made the bomb threat to his school.

The day before. Jason is in math class. Being handed back his homework there was a disturbing drawing. Eventually Jason lost his temper and whispered to himself he will bring a grenade to his school. The problem was the classmates around him heard him. On the following day, they reported him to the front office.

The next day. Jason was called to the front office during his first period class, he was actually very confused because he had never been called to the office. The head office explained why he is here. 30 minutes later. 4 policemen entered into the room and confronted him.

Jason honestly explained why he made the bomb threat and the policemen understood. They had a few laughs but they still need to do their jobs. They checked his house. Called his father and relatives to see if he has any weaponry. When school ended he walked home. He knew the trials and the wrath that will be poured upon his family/relatives. He was yelled at, families wanted to have personal talks him. Why he did what he did. They blamed a lot of things for his actions. Video games were on of them. Some thought he is a 7 year old child who doesn’t know better.

Evidently his entire family doesn’t trust him anymore. They know think of him as a 7 year old. With the mentality of it as well. Jason never really done anything bad. He just lost his temper. But what he has done is what cost him his freedom and his trust to all his family until the day he moves out.

Our Own Little Masters

Society is suffering from a virus, and they are living in our pockets. It gives us pleasure and joy, not just me but all of us. From my personal experience I can truly say to you, smartphones are the ones infecting our day-to-day habits.

We have our own little masters, our smartphones. I’ll be the first to admit I’m guilty of this, I use my phone for a good amount. I check a few websites, Facebook, Snapchat, watch YouTube. But if there are situations where i must put it away, such as school, I will do just so. But I’ve been noticing for years, why are people depending so much on their phones. As a teenager I can only speak my age. Our attention spans last for only a few seconds. I was sitting next to a girl class, she always looks at her phone, she can never take her eyes off it. She puts it down and five seconds later, she uses her phone again. And my teacher became furious, I don’t blame him.

We are glued to our phones. We depend too much on them. In my school I cant walk through a class room without tripping on at least one phone charger cord on the wall. We never put our phones away during class. We constantly take pictures or videos, finding the best ones, choosing a filter, etc.

This is something I cant understand. We are desperate for attention and what our friends are doing. We will record or say ridiculous things( fire challenge, stupid vines, screaming for viewers) and we all use our phones to achieve that.

We live freely out of school. School has health class. Why not have a technical ed. class. Smartphones are now part of our lives. We need to be educated. Our teachers must show us discipline. If we use our phones, more homework and quiz’s for us.

Yes Man

Open your mind to find other possibilities in life. There was a book title “Yes Man” published in 2005. 3 years later a movie studio by the name of Warner Bros. distributed the movie back in 2008. Carl Allen was played by non other Jim Carry. From a bank loan officer Carl’s been suffering from his divorce, he became negative. Friendships were broken and was troubled from his job. Carl wasn’t living spiritually, he wasn’t happy. The unexpected happen, he met a former colleague; he suggested Carl should go to a motivational seminar which encourages people to say yes to every opportunity, request, and invitation for a year. A covenant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEzQiWb9FZk

Carl evidently lived spiritually. He renewed his friendship with the people at his work, earned a corporate promotion and saved a suicidal man with the guitar lessons he had. Carl started to become happy, he’s living life. Along his journey he met a woman by the name of Lucy. At one point, Lucy asked Carl if he could move in with her, but he remained hesitant and denied the request. Later he met a friend as she asked if he could stay for the night. He denied. Carl’s luck takes a turn and ended up becoming worse, so he ended his commitment to the covenant. The leader of the “Yes” seminars is run by a named Terrance. Carl ended up running into Terrance and Carl told him that he wanted to end the “Yes” covenant. Terrance told him there was no covenant, he wanted Carl to open his mind to other possibilities in life.

Birdman

Birdman is an Academy Award Best Picture Nominee for this year. Birdman is a breathtaking one shot film that focuses on a retired movie star named Riggan Thomson. A man with all the fame he had now old and forgotten. Thomson has put all of his time and money to make his one play in a local theater. Thomson struggled along the way with drinking, conflicts with his leading actor, his daughter and a journalist who threaten Thomas for the worst play in history. Thomson almost attempted suicide. This movie describes the life of Riggan Thomson and his struggles of not accepting his past fame is over.

Thomson life all “This is Me”, we describe our lives explaining our great moment. For this film it showed Thomson great moment. Creating one the greatest plays and showing his Birdman retirement is not over. Thomson did not describe his life with words, but with the conversations he had with his ex-wife and his daughter shows his background. He has failed and is looking for that “one comeback” to his career. Thomson succeeded with his suicide attempt and his appearance walking with his underwear around New York City.

This film connects to us as we had to describe our best moment. My best moment is when I found out I lost 60 pounds. We all can remember the best moment we had in our lives whether it would be meeting up with friends, walking on the beach and meditating.

12 Years A Slave

12 Years A Slave(2013). From director Steve McQueen. Written by John Ridley. Winner of Best Picture in the Academy Awards and making over $100 million in profit. Steve McQueen is the first black producer to win an Oscar.

In 1841, a free African American violinist by the name of Solomon Northup lived in New York with his wife and two children. Approached by two men for a musical job in D.C, Solomon was kidnapped and delivered to a slave pen. A plantation owner William Ford purchased Solomon or “Platt” but sold to another plantation “Epps” owner before being killed by Ford’s plantation carpenter. Suffering under the command of Epps, Solomon made of friend Patsey. The slaves will be beaten if they did not pick 200 pounds of cotton everyday. Patsey picks 500 a day. An outbreak occurred, leading the slaves to a new owner(Bass) for the time being. Patsey absence led Epps in furious rage. Encouraged by his wife, Patsey was brutally wiped by Epps and Solomon. Creating thick scars tearing through her 3rd layer of skin. Solomon wrote a letter to his freinds in the North and gave it to a former overseer Armsby with his life savings. Betrayed, and denying that he wrote the letter when Epps discovered. Telling his life situation to a carpenter, weeks later a local sheriff questions Solomon if he knew a man named Parker, a shopkeeper he once knew. Saved and return home with his family with his daughter married. Solomon begged forgiveness for his absence.

In the creativity videos, it talked about being scared and motivation. In the arcade video, Caine never had any customers for his arcade until one man changed it all. In the vlogbrothers video, they talked about life being terrifying. Knowing the horror and mysteries in the world and what they are capable of.  Solomon was scared throughout the film; witnessing slaves being hung as well as himself, whipped, Patsey begging him to kill her, and tricked by a slave for his freedom. Solomon was also motivated to stay alive and survive. “I will survive. I will not fall into despair. I will keep myself hardy to freedoms opportune.” Waiting 12 years, one man saved Solomon and reunited with his family once again.  Justin

The Pursuit of Happiness

From Columbia Pictures. “The Pursuit of Happiness” was directed Gabriele Muccino. Written by Steven Conrad. Stars Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith. The film was release in December of 2006. Contending for award nominations. With a budget of $55 million, this movie made over $300 million worldwide. A profit of at least $190 million.

In 1981,  a San Francisco salesman(Chris Gardner) invest his entire life savings to a bone density scanner. Unable to pay the rent, Chris’s financial struggle caused a divorce, later taking custody of his son. Chris took an unpaid internship job at a stock building. Eventually, the IRS consumed all of the money in Chris’s bank account for unpaid parking tickets; evicted from his motel room, Chris and his son Christopher is homeless. What made Chris kept on moving forward was the meaning of happiness, the pursuit of happiness. In the film, the stock internship hires one intern out of a group of twenty. Chris received that intern job. Decades later, Chris landed a multi million dollar deal.

What makes you happy? Is it spending for others? Unplugging your devices? In the film, Chris gave $5 to his internship boss. He sold a bone density scanner that will support him for another month. He is with his son everyday. Is he happy? Are you happy? A happy person cultivate resilience. Chris failed to sell his scanner to doctors, each denying his offer or cancelling a meeting. After dozens of attempts, he sold one. Giving him four more weeks of oxygen. Are you trying to be happy? Bankrupt, divorced, and evicted. Chris managed to stay happy in front of everyone. If you are ever feeling blue, try to be happy. Spend money on other people. Exercise. Listen to good music. Look at the positives and ignore the negatives. Unplug your computer and phone; go outside, enjoy the weather and be free.  Don’t worry, be happy. Justin.
